LAYOUT:
The artful placement of page elements in a document requires a meticulous attunement to design and a practical awareness of larger concerns. For me, this arranging, which includes a sensitivity to typography and whitespace, is not only enjoyable, it is much like solving a puzzle. I have studied design at the college level and delight in using these principles--hopefully with new verve.
SLIDES:
The items shown to the left include a brochure, a wedding invitation, a menu (logo), a catalogue cover, cd cover and book cover.
BACKGROUND: Acquiring the skills to do layout well has been a process:
While living in Denver, I worked at Quark in Tech Support. Quark's policy was to train its employees to the highest level. That meant six weeks of classroom training and an exit exam.
I finished a Multimedia Technology program in Boulder in which I took advanced classes in Photoshop and all of the other software programs now considered standards.
I worked for an academic publisher as a copy editor (which means I can spell and spot correct grammar, etc.).
